Ephesians 6.6-8: Our Fight for "Success" in the Workplace

As we go to work each and every day, we need to remember that God expects us to do our jobs in a way that adorns the Gospel and brings glory to the name we wear as Christians.

Sunday, September 16, 2012
Ephesians 6.5: The daily battle of employees in the workplace

The first of two messages on "servants"--a lesson on what we ought to be like as employees. We may not be perfect, but would should strive to adorn the Gospel we preach.

The Sufficiency Of Scripture

Dave Johnson fills is for Pastor Greg with a message from 2Tim 3:15-17 on the sufficiency of scripture. Do we need visions, dreams, feeling or "promptings" to direct us or is the Bible all we need to direct our lives? Dave tells us clearly that not only is it enough the Bible is clear that it should be the only thing.

Sunday, September 2, 2012
Ephesians 6.1-3: The daily battle of children to live according to God's will

Ephesians 6 is a chapter that deals with our daily spiritual warfare. When we hear "spiritual warfare," we often think of Satan, demons, and scary things that happen in the spirit world (and we'll talk about all this later). But, the main focus of this chapter (the main focus of our spiritual battles) is on our daily lives—how we live day to day.

1 Thesssalonians 5:14: Precision Parenting

With the pastor out of town Tim Hull filled the pulpit using 1 Thessalonians 5:14 to illustrate how the Bible instructs us to deal with three kinds of people:

  • The unruly.
  • The feeble-minded
  • The weak.

Be sure to download the PDF as Tim uses it quite a bit to illustrate his points.

Ordinances: Baptism & Lord's Supper

This morning we celebrated the Lord's Supper and so it was a good opportunity to teach what the Bible has to say about the two ordinances that Christ gave the Church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

  • Baptism guards the door of our church
  • The Lord's Supper guards the on-going membership of our church

Loving Jesus (Dave Johnson)

Sunday, August 12, 2012

How do we show our love to Jesus? How do we respond to God's love toward us (we love Him because He first loved us)? Is your love sentimental or sacrificial? Do you live for Christ or do you live for yourself?

The Bible is very clear about how we express our love for the Lord Jesus Christ:

If ye love me, keep my commandments. [John 14.15]

Holiness

Sunday, August 5, 2012
Hebrews 12.14: Without Holiness No One Will See the Lord

The Bible says in Hebrews 12.14 that without holiness no one will see the Lord. This has some very practical and important application to our lives.

  • First, holiness is fruit of a true converstion (and lack of holiness is an indication that the "believer" is not saved).
  • Second, holiness needs to characterize our lives and our church if we desire to see God do a work in us and through us.
